FAQs

Why GoodBoy and not a competitor?

We won't pretend that there are not many great trainers out there. In fact, we believe it is important for all dogs to receive a sound education from a reputable trainer. It is not our mission to undermine other trainers, rather, support your journey in taking the appropriate and sound steps in being a great dog owner, and putting the effort into their training to begin with. We hope to build your trust through our transparency, knowledge, and our positive reinforcement training method. If at the end of the day, you feel GoodBoy is not the right fit for you, then we truly hope you will find the right trainer that suits your needs.

What kind of methodology do you use for your training?

We have used many reward-based methods over the years. Much of our developed programs are based around ABA therapy. During your first session, we will run a fun series of trials to best determine the cause of behaviors or the best method of training to match each individual animal.

I have a dog I want to be trained as a guard dog, but I want my dog to bite on command. Will you train my dog to bite?

We will not train any guard/watchdog to bite. We understand this can be frustrating, but every year, highly trained dogs in the police force and military file reports of unprovoked dog attacks when they misread the situation. GoodBoy LLC will not train a dog to bite a human. We highly discourage it and hope you reconsider giving your dog the tools to bite. We train our guard/ watchdogs to alert you of a stranger's presence and to act the part of a protector, without causing harm.

I have always used prong collars, choke collars, punishment training methods...to train my dog. Why should I change what I know works?

We want to thank you for giving us the opportunity to teach a faster, more productive method of training through positive reinforcement. We want all our dogs to be excited and eager to learn and work with us. A dog that is excited to learn is a dog that will stop at nothing to seek out new opportunities to impress. Positive reinforcement training will also significantly strengthen the bond between owner and animal.

My dog is old. Can he/she still be trained?

Absolutely! The old saying "can't teach an old dog new tricks." needs to stay in the past.

Can you certify my dog as a service dog?

We do not. For the best and most up-to-date information on service animals, please visit the ADA website.

Can you provide a guarantee my dog will be fully trained in a precise time period?

The guarantee we can provide is that we will provide you with the knowledge to provide to best possible training response in the shortest amount of time.

I need to cancel my appointment, can I do that?

We understand that things come up unexpectedly. With canceling an appointment, please allow twenty-four hours or more to cancel. If cancelations occur in under twenty-four hours there is a $25 dollar cancellation fee due before your next appointment.

If you have purchased a package and canceled an appointment in under twenty-four hours more than once, then the session will still be counted and deducted from the remaining sessions.

If you are a no-call no-show or cancel your appointment within a two-hour window from when your booked session time is, then a non-refundable payment for the following session will need to be made before training continues with GoodBoy.
